Client Overview

Academia World is an innovative event platform designed to serve academics by enabling them to create and share events online, manage registrations, and showcase academic talks. The platform aims to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing in the academic community.

Problem Statement
Academics and researchers often struggle with limited digital tools for organizing and promoting events. Traditional methods like email chains and physical posters are outdated, highlighting the need for a centralized platform to organize academic events, host and preserve talks and put a spotlisht on university insights.

Curate Academic Content
Feature lectures and talks from renowned academics to create a valuable repository of knowledge.

Research and Discovery

To ensure that this platform effectively meets the needs of academics, I conducted extensive user research focused on understanding the challenges they face in organizing, promoting, and managing events.

User
Interviews

I conducted interviews with academics and faculty heads to understand their event management challenges.

Competitive
Analysis

I evaluated the existing digital channels academics rely on for event planning, which turned out to be very fragmented.

Usability
Testing

I also employed an iterative prototyping strategy by testing early prototypes with academics.

Affinity Mapping

Using affinity mapping we synthesized research findings, identifying common themes and pain points. This process helped in prioritizing features that would address specific needs of users and improve overall user experience. Key findings were:

INSIGHT 1

I conducted interviews with academics and faculty heads to understand their event management challenges.

INSIGHT 2

Academics want the ability to archive and revisit past lectures

INSIGHT 3

Mobile accessibility is crucial for on-the-go event management.

How might we make it easier for academics to plan and share their events online in one place?

Design Process

I began with Hand Drawn wireframes to outline the key functionalities and layout. After multiple iterations and feedback rounds, I developed high-fidelity interactive prototypes to test the user experience.
